Yorkshire 3 Peaks

So in 78 days, I am in a group of about 20 people taking on the challenge of the Yorkshire Three Peaks, This walk is 24.5 miles and must be completed in 12 hours, the following peaks stand in our way;

  • Pen-y-Ghent (694 metres)
  • Whernside (736 metres)
  • Ingleborough (723 metres)

We are taking on this challenge on behalf of Freddie’s Legacy, fundraising for the NICU centre at St Mary’s Hospital in Manchester, where Freddy spent all of his too short life.

We are aiming to raise £5000 and unlike many events out there we are all self funding our participation so all funds will be going to the hospital. Donations can be made @ Just Giving.

Its not going to be an easy challenge and having a full time job and two kids fitting in the training I would like to do is not easy. I am going for a mixture of general strength training, HIIT sessions (Both spin and circuit), 5km-10km runs and a number of long walks, hoping to be prepared and enabling me to enjoy the day.

We would be pretty unlucky to encounter any snow on the day, but being the Yorkshire Dales we could encounter all four seasons in an hour, so getiing my ket sorted is just a much of a job, thats where my bargain hunting will be coming into the fore.

Training updates to follow.
